Our Story
OUR WORLD COVERED THROUGH DIGITAL & BROADCAST JOURNALISM
Our primary service is news. IndiJ Public Media is the parent company of ICT, formerly Indian Country Today, and was formed to empower ICT to transform the narrative of how Indigenous people and communities are reported on in the media. Telling the stories of Indigenous communities by Indigenous journalists is at the core of ICT. Since our beginnings in 1981 as a weekly newspaper, The Lakota Times, ICT has grown into the largest start up news organization serving Native American communities.
In April 2020, we expanded into public broadcasting through the daily ICT Newscast reporting on how the coronavirus pandemic has affected American Indians and Alaska Natives and First Nations. With this bold new step into public television, ICT has become a spacious channel through which it distributes news across multiple platforms. Coverage includes digital, print, and broadcast news outlets featuring top stories, news, lifestyle, and classified job listings.
